A "Foster" playdate
Yesterday was a busy dog-day for us. We had agreed to dog-sit one of our previous foster dogs, Foster the greyhound and his new sister Tigger, while their parents hosted a party. They didn't want the dogs getting scared about the crowd or getting too curious about the planned bonfire, so they called us and we whisked them off to Elk Lake along with our own boy, Arlo. Our friend Taras met up with us and the three of us walked around Elk Lake with the dogs. Greyhounds are SOOOO easy to walk. They're calm and gentle and tend to just stay by your side, unlike bouncy Arlo!
So after that we went home with everybody. Koobee was in her kennel and we decided to leave her in there for a while to get used to the presence of the greyhounds. This is a method that Koobee's previous foster mom used to introduce new dogs to her household, and we're glad we've learned about it! Koobee was happy enough to chew her rawhide, but whined to come out when she was done. We put her leash on her and let her out, and she was very well behaved around the new dogs. Good Koobee!! :)
We kept her leash attached to her just in case, but everything went fine. Koobee was curious and wanted to sniff the greyhounds a lot, but Foster didn't want to be sniffed and gave her the cold shoulder. Not a lot of friction overall, though. I was glad to see Koobee getting some positive interaction with new dogs. On the adoption front, we are still waiting for news on an active application. It could go either way; keep your fingers crossed!

Yay Koobee! I'm impressed at how well that technique worked. We should try it the next time she comes over to my house. So did the application in Alberta fall through?
